Emissions Scenarios (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)

What Are Emissions Scenarios?

An emissions scenario is a possible pathway of Greenhouse Gas emissions into the atmosphere that may take place in the next 5-100 or so years. Many emission scenarios differ slightly or vary from each other, as it is necessary to consider every possible choice society might make.

This includes:

  • Population growth
  • Energy use changes
  • Economic development
  • Technological development
  • Land use
Energy Education (What are Emissions Scenarios? )

Why does this matter?

Emissions scenarios are important, as they are integral in feeding that information into climate models and for climate models to predict emissions pathways. Climate models rely on emissions scenarios, as it is hard to accurately predict public decisions because it depends on on policy, markets, trends, and much more

Net Zero Emisisons by 2050 (NZE)

What is the NZE ? Nze is an example of an emissions scenario that could lead to net zero emissions, but it is one of many, again, it largely depends on our everyday decisions as users of emissions. NZE is also one scenario that displays a pathway for global energy sectors to successfully approach to a net zero CO2 emissions level using many different approaches

NZE will also successfully meet United Nations SDG’s as it will achieve its goals of limiting global temp to 1.5* C, universal energy access, and air quality improvements
